It has been sixty years since the Basque Secretariat of Bayonne met at 14, rue Cordeliers in Bayonne. The “soul” of that meeting was the great Txillardegi, whose contribution was decisive to the unify Basque language, Basque Country itself and the Basque speakers. I was extremely pleased with how Koteto has refocused Txillardegi, placing him on the podium he deserves, reflecting how many headaches he had. It is called ‘Txillardegi in Bergara’.

This comic was made possible thanks to the Geuretik Sortuak grant from Udalbiltza, with the support of the Bergara City Council and the special support of Olaso Dorrea, and was published in the comic collection Hona Bostekoa! in November 2023, originally under the title Txillardegi Bergaran.
In this solo edition published by Komiki Films SL Monzon was also brought to the title. Txillardegi (eta Monzon) Bergaran was released on January 9, 2025, and was put on sale with the support of the association Txillardegi Library Iniciative and the linguist’s family, as part of the 13th tribute to Txillardegi’s death. DDT offers it online, and you can also order it in stores.
This political comic about Txillardegi tells the story of the events, infiltrations and deviations that took place long ago in what was supposed to be the Basque National Liberation Movement, but under a different guise, the same or similar to those we are experiencing today.
